Lake Superior Open Registration Guidelines for 11U+:

As we all know, the landscape of soccer in Minnesota has gone through a major shift in the past 3-5 years resulting in confusion as to how to register for tournaments. The LSO accepts both MYSA (USSF) and TCSL (US Club) teams as well as out of state and international teams. In order to make the most competitive brackets we ask that you use the following as a guide when registering for the Lake Superior Open.

Level 1-

These teams consider themselves to be playing at the highest level in their respected league/state. Teams that wish to play at this level in the LSO should be: TCSL National, MYSA Premier I & II, any other state sanctioning top level and/or teams wishing to play at the highest level during the Lake Superior Open.

Level 2-

These teams consider themselves to be competitive teams that play at an upper level in their organization. Teams that wish to play at this level in the LSO should be: TCSL Regional, MYSA League 1, any state association that would have been an equivalent to the former “Classic One” league or any other team wishing to play at a competitive level during the Lake Superior Open.

Level 3-

These teams consider themselves to be semi-competitive teams that do not compete at the higher levels in their associations. Teams that wish to play at this level in the LSO should be: TCSL State, MYSA Black, any state association that would have been an equivalent to the former “Classic Two” league or any other team wishing to play at a semi-competitive level during the LSO.

Level 4-

These teams consider themselves to be of a recreation status that typically play at a lower level in their associations. Teams that wish to play at this level in the LSO should be: TCSL Cities, MYSA Blue, MYSA Rec-Plus, any state association that would be have been an equivalent to the former “Classic Three” league or any other team wishing to play at a recreational level.

TOURNAMENT ONLY TEAMS- Because of the sanctioning requirements within MYSA a “Tournament Only” team would be considered a team that plays at the highest level in the state. If you do not feel you play at that level, please select the level that you feel your team would best play. This will ensure that you are properly placed at the Lake Superior Open.

Lake Superior Open Registration Guidelines for 9U/10U Jamboree Teams:

Level 1-

These teams consider themselves to be competitive teams that play at an upper level in their organization. Teams that wish to play at this level in the LSO should be: TCSL Red, MYSA Black, any state association that would have been an equivalent to the former “Classic One” league or any other team wishing to play at a competitive level during the Lake Superior Open.

Level 2-

These teams consider themselves to be semi-competitive teams that do not compete at the higher levels in their associations or any other team wishing to play at a recreational level or are teams that consist of younger players.
